Abstract
Ileal-pouch anal anastomosis (IPAA) is the operation of choice for patients requiring proctocolectomy for chronic ulcerative colitis. The commonest lo ng-term complication after IPAA continues to be the poorly understood and o ften misdiagnosed entity of pouchitis. The etiology, evaluation, and manage ment of pouchitis are explored.
