A CHECKLIST OF METAZOAN PARASITES OF CICHLID FISH FROM MEXICO

Based on previously published records and original data, a checklist o f the metazoan parasite fauna reported in 26 species of native cichlid s from Mexico is presented. The checklist contains 90 metazoan parasit e species, including 5 species of monogeneans, 19 adult trematodes, 27 metacercariae, 1 adult cestode, 3 larval cestodes, 5 adult acanthocep halans, 2 cystacanths, 10 adult nematodes, 13 larval nematodes, 2 leec hes, 2 pentastomids, and 1 molluscan larva. It includes 140 new host p arasite records for Mexico and records 13 species for the first time.
