Abstract
This paper discusses the importance of modeling in the planning and managem ent of an information system. The paper specifically addresses three differ ent levels of modeling, referred to as macro, meso, and micro models, and d iscusses some issues involved in quantifying the variables for the micro mo del. The paper indicates how these different types of business models may b e used in the information systems environment.
