Abstract
BACKGROUND: The finding of unanticipated pathology in a uterus after vagina l hysterectomy for purpose is uncommon. CASE: An incidental small malignant mixed mesodermal tumor was found at vag inal hysterectomy in a 68-year-old woman. CONCLUSION: A MEDLINE search found no ether reported cases of malignant mix ed mesodermal tumor in a patient undergoing,a vaginal hysterectomy for beni gn prolapse. Unexpected endometrial and cervical lesions will be discovered occasionally after hysterectomy for benign disease.
