Abstract
The crystallographic structure of CO adsorbed on Ni(110) has been investiga ted with x;ray diffraction at ambient pressures of CO ranging from 2.3 to 1 0(-10) bars. At room temperature, the high pressure and vacuum structures a re identical. Above room temperature (similar to 130 degreesC), the high pr essure of CO induces a restructuring of the Ni substrate that develops stra ined (111) microfacets.
