Abstract
Using betaine ((CH3)(3)N+CH3CO2-) as the hybrid ligand, some novel isomorph ous cyano-bridged complexes [Ln(bet)(2)(H2O)(3)Fe(CN)(6)](n) (Ln = Pr, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy; bet = betaine) (abbreviated as LnFe) have been synthesized, which possess a chain structure through two approximately parallel trans-c yano-bridges between Pr (and Gd) and Fe atoms and C-N . . .H-O hydrogen bon ding. Variable temperature susceptibilities show that there exist weak anti ferromagnetic interactions between rare earth ions (Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd) and the Fe atom mainly through CN bridges.
