E. Rudnayova et al., Qualitative and quantitative microstructure study of the unidirectional carbon fibre reinforced carbon composites, PRAKT METAL, 37(8), 2000, pp. 452-467
Qualitative and quantitative analyses of two types of unidirectional carbon
-carbon composites together with fractographic investigation and room tempe
rature bending strength measurements were performed. Methodical aspects of
the quantitative estimation of microstructure parameters were discussed. Th
e reliability of the performed image analysis was judged. The effect of the
rmal treatment at 2200 degreesC (graphitization) on microstructure and mech
anical properties of the composites was pursued. The positive influence of
using the high modulus fibres and of the performed heat treatment on bendin
g strength and toughness of the investigated materials was confirmed.
