Revealing the microstructure using a new electrolytical polishing and etching unit

"Lectropol-5: A Microprocessor controlled electrolytic polishing and etchin g unit for the software controlled, automatic preparation of metallographic al specimens. Includes scanning functions for the easy determination of dat a, built in safety functions and a data bank containing methods of preparat ion for numerous materials which will ensure both the shortest polishing ti mes and highest reproducibility". These are the claims made in the brochure on this new piece of equipment, and we were of course interested. We thus tested the possible uses of the new unit on specimens of twenty different m aterials.
