Abstract
Three new species of the gorgonacean genus Calyptrophora from the western A tlantic are described and compared with the previously known C. trilepis (P ourtales, 1868). All are illustrated by scanning electron micrographs. The status of several Indo-Pacific specimens indentified in the literature as t he type species, C. japonica Gray, 1866, is discussed, and a new drawing of Gray's specimen is provided.
