Abstract
Various mechanisms of the appearance of a potential jump on a target irradi ated by 10.6-mum laser pulses in vacuum are considered, It is shown that, i n principle, the potential jump can be used to monitor the parameters of th e laser pulses and measure the electron temperature of a laser plasma.
