Abstract
A method for optimising parameters of combined structures consisting of a d ielectric diffraction grating and a metal or a multilayer dielectric mirror is proposed. The method is based on the use of waveguide properties of a c ombined diffraction grating. Its main advantage is that one can determine t he optimum parameters of a combined grating without solving the diffraction problem.
