Abstract
Knowledge about biosynthetic gene clusters from antibiotic-producing actino mycetes is continuously increasing and the presence of an ABC transporter s ystem is a fairly general phenomenon in most of these clusters. These trans porters are involved in the secretion of the antibiotic through the cell me mbrane and also contribute to self resistance to the produced antibiotic.
