Abstract
Analytical applications of electrogenerated chemiluminescence (ECL) are rev iewed with emphasis on the years 1997-2000. Recent developments are describ ed fur the ECL of organics, metal complexes and clusters. cathodic ECL on o xide covered electrodes. ECL based immunosensors, DNA-probe assays and enzy matic biosensors. Mechanisms are given for polyaromatic hydrocarbons, lumin ol/hydrogen peroxide, some cathodic ECL reactions and ruthenium complexes w ith and without co-reactants. New developments and improvements: of techniq ues and instrumentation and their application to analytes are described. Th e application of ECL for visualisation of electrochemical processes and ima ging of surfaces is mentioned. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights re served.
