Xj. Jia et al., Determination of palladium by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectroscopy without matrix matching, TALANTA, 54(4), 2001, pp. 741-751
A graphite furnace atomic absorption spectroscopy method for the analysis o
f the palladium (Pd) content in bulk pharmaceutical drug substances and the
ir intermediates prepared in aqueous solutions is extended to samples prepa
red in acetonitrile (ACN) and ACN-water mixtures as well to samples prepare
d in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and DMSO-water mixtures. The Pd content in s
amples solubilized in these solvents can be accurately determined with cali
bration established with standards prepared in aqueous solutions without ma
trix matching or using the method of standard additions. The validity of th
is method is demonstrated by spike recovery studies and by the agreement wi
th results for the same samples prepared in these solvents, in concentrated
nitric acid, and prepared by a microwave digestion system. (C) 2001 Elsevi
