Although nearly one-fifth of the Angolan population is at risk of becoming
infected with trypanosomiasis, only 6% currently have access to surveillanc
e and treatment because of the war and its resultant destruction of the cou
ntry's infrastructure. The paper outlines the history of human African tryp
anosomiasis (HAT) control activities in Angola and sums up what measures ne
ed to be taken to re-establish them.
