Abstract
Although nearly one-fifth of the Angolan population is at risk of becoming infected with trypanosomiasis, only 6% currently have access to surveillanc e and treatment because of the war and its resultant destruction of the cou ntry's infrastructure. The paper outlines the history of human African tryp anosomiasis (HAT) control activities in Angola and sums up what measures ne ed to be taken to re-establish them.
