Abstract
Tetravalent metal acid (TMA) salt zirconium tungstate (ZW) has been synthes ized, followed by its derivatization using para-chlorophenol (pCP), The res ulting compound is abbreviated as ZWpCP. ZWpCP has been characterized for e lemental analysis, spectral analysis (FTIR), X-ray analysis and thermal ana lysis (TGA), Its chemical stability has been assessed in various mineral ac ids, bases and organic solvents. Ion exchange rapacity (IEC) has been deter mined and distribution behaviour towards several metal ions in different el ectrolyte solutions with varying concentrations has been studied and a few binary separations achieved.
