NMR, already some 50 years old. has long been an invaluable analytical meth
od in industry for verification of chemical synthesis and compound characte
risation. The range of molecular information accessible through NMR, howeve
r. offers a far larger horizon of applications. Of these, ligand screening
by NMR has emerged as a very promising new method in drug discovery. Its un
matched screening sensitivity, combined with the abundance of available inf
ormation on the structure and nature of molecular binding, justifies the gr
owing interest in this dynamically expanding NMR application.
