Abstract
CsPd2Cl5 has been obtained by hydrothermal reaction of cesium chloride and palladium chloride in a 1:2 ratio in quartz glass ampoules at 150 degreesC. Its crystal structure has been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffract ion analysis [Pnma, Z = 4, alpha = 15.725(3) Angstrom, b = 10.526(2) Angstr om, c = 5.275(1) Angstrom]. CsPd2Cl5 represents the first example of a new structural type made up of infinite (1)(infinity)[(PdCl3/2Cl)(2)(-)] chains , in which PdCl4 units are connected through their edges as well as their v ertices.
