Abstract
An advanced model, coupling the electric supply circuits with the electroma gnetic field and including scalar and vector Preisach model of hysteresis, is presented in this article. The model is based on the finite element solu tion of the two-dimensional field problem, through the development of an it erative procedure, under periodic supply conditions. An experimental setup, constituted by a three limbed ferromagnetic core, has been especially desi gned and built to be used as a test bench for validation of the proposed mo del. Both unidirectional and rotational flux patterns can be generated by m odifying the supply conditions. The reliability of the model is shown by co mparing computed and measured results under different operating conditions. Finally, a voltage sinusoidal supply at the primary winding with a given l oad at the secondary is considered and discussed. (C) 2001 American Institu te of Physics.
