In this article the distribution of the transverse component of magnetizati
on of recorded tracks is extensively studied for different track widths and
various recording frequencies by using the spin-stand imaging technique [M
ayergoyz , J. Appl. Phys. 87, 6824 (2000)]. It is demonstrated that for nar
row tracks the transverse magnetization component can be quite substantial
and it significantly protrudes toward the track center. (C) 2001 American I
