Abstract
Audience ratings data offer many possibilities for research into the social and economic impact of electronic media. This study analyzes recent JOBEM volumes to assess the ways in which ratings data have been utilized. Most u ses involved questions of market competition and structure. The author offe rs suggestions for new approaches to using "the numbers."
