Klebsiella pneumoniae has been emerging as the leading cause of liver absce
ss in diabetic patients. Results of molecular typing of K. pneumoniae isola
tes from two siblings with liver abscess, their family members, and the env
ironment suggest a possibility of cross infection of liver abscess by the f
ecal-oral route within diabetic patients.
