Abstract
A reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatographic method has been de veloped for the simultaneous analysis of a group of pharmaceuticals includi ng corticoids (dexamethasone and betamethasone acetate) and major tranquill izers (chlorpromazine, acetopromazine, propionyl promazine, xylazine, and h aloperidol) in bovine livers using U.V detection. Next to a fractionated li quid-liquid extraction, the total separation was carried out using a Kromas il C-18 column and a mixture of methanol:water (80:20, v/v) as mobile phase . All the compounds were detected at 240 nm. The detection limits ranged fr om 21 ng.mL(-1) to 298 ng.mL(-1).
