Gas-phase O-17 and S-33 NMR spectroscopy

Recent O-17 and S-33 NMR measurements for gaseous compounds permit establis hment of more reliable shielding scales for both the magnetic nuclei. The n ew experimental results may be directly used for better verification of ab initio calculations of shielding. It is also shown that intermolecular effe cts are rather large in the oxygen shielding of small molecules. In contras t the S-33 magnetic shielding of an octahedral SF6 molecule is modestly dep endent on intermolecular interactions. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All r ights reserved.
