I. Hannus et al., Spectroscopy in environmental protection, comparative IR and C-13 NMR study of chlorofluorocarbons, J MOL STRUC, 563, 2001, pp. 167-171
Adsorption and decomposition of chlorofluorocarbons, with (CHCIF2) and with
out (CCl2F2) hydrogen content were inves tigated on zeolites NaY and HZSM-5
. The IR and C-13 NMR spectroscopic results are in good agreement and prove
d that the intermediates of the surface reactions of CCl2F2 are CCl4 and CO
Cl2, while the gaseous end-products are CO2 and HCl. For CHCIF2 the interme
diate is CHCl3, and the final gaseous products are CO and HCl. The fluorine
content of both reactants is retained in the solid phase as AlF3. (C) 2001
