Abstract
The inverse scattering problem for the wave equation partial derivativ e(1)(2)u=c(x,y)(2) Delta(x,y)u is considered in R-x(n) X R-y(1), n gre ater than or equal to 2. The sound speed of the background medium, c(0 )(y), takes different constant values on {y>0} and {y<0}. The exponent ially decreasing perturbation c(x,y)-c(0)(y) is uniquely reconstructed from the scattering matrix of an arbitrarily fixed energy. (C) 1997 A cademic Press.
