Abstract
Coarse-grained models of monolayers of amphiphiles (Langmuir monolayers) ha ve been studied theoretically and by means of computer simulations. We disc uss some of the insights obtained with this approach, and present new simul ation results which show that idealized models can successfully reproduce e ssential aspects of the generic phase behaviour of Langmuir monolayers.
