The influence of a corroded layer on the insertion surface of products
on the parameters of the transmitted ultrasonic wave and the error of
ultrasonic thickness gauges are analyzed. We concept of the wall thic
kness of a product in ultrasonic thickness measurement is made more pr
ecise, the structure of the corroded layer is analyzed, the existence
and important role of interference processes in the layer are confirme
d, and a formula is derived for the error of ultrasonic thickness gaug
es in this case.
