Employing piperazine as a template, a new three-dimensional aluminophosphat
e [Al11P12O48][C4H12N2][C4H11N2] (denoted AlPO-CJ11) has been prepared hydr
othermally. The as-synthesized product has been characterized by X-ray powd
er diffraction, inductively coupled plasma, thermogravimetric and different
ial thermal analyses. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis shows that
AlPO-CJ11 crystallizes in the trigonal space group R(3) over barc (no. 167)
with a = 14.045(2) Angstrom, c = 42.091(6) Angstrom, V = 7191.0(16) Angstr
om (3), and Z = 6. The framework structure of AlPO-CJ11 is constructed from
two new types of chiral cage and has a new stoichiometry with an Al/P rati
o of 11 : 12. The possible locations of the templates in the cages have bee
n investigated by molecular modeling.
