Abstract
Feline mammary gland tumors represent a highly aggressive neoplastic d isease that has to be taken very seriously. Tumor size can be consider ed as the most important prognostic factor - meaning that the lesser t he size of the tumor at the time of its diagnosis and surgical removal , the better the chances for longer-term control of the disease. Aggre ssive surgical approach is mandatory. Previous studies have shown that patients undergoing radical mastectomy achieve a significantly increa sed disease-free interval compared to those treated via simple mastect omy alone. In advanced stages of the disease, adjuvant chemo- and radi otherapeutic measures can help to improve disease control and therefor e prolong patient survival.
