S. Kinzel et W. Kupper, DENERVATION OF THE HIP-JOINT IN THE MANAG EMENT OF CANINE HIP-DYSPLASIA AND ARTHROSIS, Praktische Tierarzt, 78, 1997, pp. 26-29
A new surgical technique is presented for treatment of the canine hip
dysplasia and arthrosis: Denervation is a selective neurotomy of sensi
tive nerve fibres of the joint capsule, which immediately induces a pe
rmanent analgesia of the hip joint. The lameness disappeares. In the l
ast 3 1/2 years we operated 131 dogs of different breeds and degree of
hip dysplasia in this way. The simplicity of the surgical technique a
nd the good results of denervation present a remarkable alternative fo
r the other palliative and reconstructive operations for treatment of
hip dysplasia and arthrosis.
