Abstract
The anamorph currently known as Alysidium minus is reclassified in a new, m onotypic genus, Castanedaea, since it is clearly not congeneric with specie s of Haplotrichum, of which Alysidium is now considered a synonym. This tax on differs significantly in a number of respects from any other known caten ate, dematiaceous Hyphomycete. It is redescribed, illustrated, and compared with broadly similar anamorphs.
