The viscoelastic behavior of a soda-lime-silica glass has been experim
entally investigated in the glass transition range using shear and uni
axial creep-recovery experiments. No departure of linearity and thermo
rheological simplicity is found in the investigated stress and tempera
ture ranges, respectively. The shear and uniaxial viscoelastic constan
ts and retardation functions have been precisely measured from the rec
overy part. An attempt to model the shear and uniaxial viscoelastic be
haviors with KWW functions is made and it is shown that this model can
not be a good representation of the linear viscoelastic behavior of th
e investigated glass. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
