Groups of right full-sibling wild sea trout Salmo trutta L. families, commu
nally reared. exhibited highly significant differences in family representa
tion in the largest 75 percentile within each tank at the end of the observ
ation period (referred to as family performance). Despite these large diffe
rences in family performance within tanks, there were no significant differ
ences in performances of families relative to each other between high and l
ow feeding levels. These results are discussed in the context of domesticat
ion selection. (C) 2001 The Fisheries Society of the British Isles.
