Ma. Fox et R. Greatrex, THE TRUE IDENTITY OF THE BARE-CARBON CLUSTER, CLOSO-C3B5H7, Journal of the Chemical Society. Dalton transactions, (21), 1994, pp. 3197-3198
The compound reported in 1971 as the first tricarba-closo-octaborane,
C3B5H7, and thought to contain a framework carbon atom with no termina
l hydrogen, is now shown to be the parent dicarba-closo-heptaborane, 2
,3-C2B5H7. It is suggested that this compound is probably an intermedi
ate in the conversion of nido-2,3-C2B4H8 to closo-2,4-C2B5H7.
