Abstract
This article reports the development and psychometric properties of a new s cale that measures internalized homophobia in lesbians: the Lesbian Interna lized Homophobia Scale (LIHS). This 52-item measure was developed using a r ational/theoretical approach of test construction and includes five subscal es. Research findings, based on a sample of 303 female participants, suppor ted the reliability and validity of the LIHS in assessing internalized homo phobia in lesbians. Implications for research and practice are discussed. ( C) 2001 by The Haworth Press, Inc. All rights reserved.
