Ia. Udod, SODIUM-GRAPHITE INTERCALATION COMPOUND OF THE FIRST STAGE - 2-DIMENSIONAL STRUCTURE AND STABILITY, Synthetic metals, 88(2), 1997, pp. 127-131
The two-dimensional structure was investigated for the sodium-graphite
intercalation compound obtained from the ambient pressure decompositi
on of superdense sodium C2Na. The sodium sublattice possesses hexagona
l symmetry (a = 3.60 Angstrom). This sublattice is rotated by 30 degre
es relative to the graphite layer. The mechanism of formation and the
chemical nature of this compound are described in a moder that conside
rs metal-metal interactions within an intercalate bilayer. The structu
ral data for various graphite intercalation compounds are compared wit
h those for the sodium bilayer intercalate package, first-stage struct
ure.
