Abstract
Thermolysis of a toluene solution containing [Fe2W(CO)(10)(mu (3)-S)(2)] (I ) and [(eta (5)-C5H5)W(CO)(3)(CCPh)] (2), at 80 degreesC yields the mixed m et al cluster [Fe-2(CO)(6)(mu (3)-S)(2)W{(eta (C5H5)-C-5)W(CO)(3)(CCPh)}(2) ] (3). Structure of 3 has been established crystallographically. It consist s of a triangular Fe,W unit, each face of which is capped by a sulfide liga nd. Each Fe atom bears three carbonyl groups. Two separate molecules of [(e ta (5)-C5H5)W(CO)(3)(CCPh)] are attached to the W atom of the Fe2W core thr ough the acetylide groups. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserv ed.
