A poorly crystallized apatite is prepared by coprecipitation at room temper
ature and dried by lyophilization. The electrical properties, in terms of i
onic conductivity, improve after a second compression of the sample under 1
5 t/cm(2). Characterization by X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy and
conductivity spectra show that this improved conductivity following the co
mpression processing could be related to the establishment of order within
the apatitic network.
