The optical performance of electrophoretically deposited phosphor (ZnS:Ag,
P-22) was investigated. Densely packed and homogeneous deposits were made a
s a function of applied voltage and duration of deposition to give a range
of deposit densities. These deposits showed a similar packing structure and
cathodoluminescent efficiency. The electrophoretic process itself and cond
itions shown to enhance phosphor adhesion did not change the intrinsic effi
ciency of the phosphor under a low excitation voltage of 1-4 kV, applicable
to field emission displays. (C) 2001 The Electrochemical Society.
