Abstract
The warm compaction of high-compressible low-alloyed metal powder can cut c onnecting rod production costs significantly. This was the conclusion after fatigue tests were carried out on warm-compacted con rods to evaluate thei r performance compared with standard steel-forged and powder-forged con rod s. Not only do warm-compacted con rods have a similar performance to curren tly used con rods, but they can also be mass-produced and offer the potenti al of lowering total production costs due to less machining and fewer proce ssing steps.
