F. Gigliotti et al., Short course directly observed therapy to monitor compliance with antiretroviral, therapy in human immunodeficiency virus-infected children, PEDIAT INF, 20(7), 2001, pp. 716-718
We report our experience with short course directly observed therapy (DOT)
in six human immunodeficiency virus-infected children who had a poor respon
se to their prescribed therapy. Four to days of DOT resulted in a significa
nt drop in the viral load of all six children, demonstrating that short cou
rse DOT is an effective way to document poor compliance with antiretroviral
therapy.
