Abstract
The present article reviews our recent biochemical and microdialysis studie s showing the evidence for an antagonistic CCKB/D-2 receptor interaction in the regulation of dopaminergic transmission in the nucleus accumbens and G ABAergic transmission in the ipsilateral ventral pallidum. Since the nucleu s accumbens plays a crucial role in regulating the output from the limbic s ystem and consequently motivation, it may be speculated that a dysregulatio n of this receptor interaction may have consequences in a wide range of cen tral nervous system disorders.
