S. Tanganelli et al., Cholecystokinin/dopamine/GABA interactions in the nucleus accumbens: biochemical and functional correlates, PEPTIDES, 22(8), 2001, pp. 1229-1234
The present article reviews our recent biochemical and microdialysis studie
s showing the evidence for an antagonistic CCKB/D-2 receptor interaction in
the regulation of dopaminergic transmission in the nucleus accumbens and G
ABAergic transmission in the ipsilateral ventral pallidum. Since the nucleu
s accumbens plays a crucial role in regulating the output from the limbic s
ystem and consequently motivation, it may be speculated that a dysregulatio
n of this receptor interaction may have consequences in a wide range of cen
tral nervous system disorders. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Inc. All rights re
