We present a theoretical analysis of temperature effects on the self-deflec
tion of photorefractive solitons in biased photovoltaic-photorefractive mat
erials. The bending distance of the bright solitary beam center increases a
nd, reaches its maximum value at a character temperature and then decreases
as temperature rises and, approaches zero at low and high temperatures. Bo
th the maximum value and character temperature increase with the input powe
r density. The dark irradiance dominates the temperature dependence of bend
ing distance in most values of temperature besides in higher temperature ra
nge in which the diffusion process will dominate. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science
