Reconstruction of the Earth's matter density profile using a single neutrino baseline

In this Letter, we show numerically that a symmetric Earth matter density p rofile can, in principle, be reconstructed from a single baseline energy sp ectrum up to a certain precision. For the numerical evaluations in the high -dimensional parameter space we use a genetic algorithm. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
