Abstract
A new method was developed for synthesis of 2-acetonyl-4-alkoxymethylbutano lides by treatment of 4-alkoxymethyl-2-(beta -chloroallyl)butanolides are r eadily obtained by alkylation of accessible 4-alkoxymethyl-2-ethoxycarbonyl butanolides with 2,3-dichloropropene, followed by hydrolysis and decarboxyl ation of the resulting 4-alkoxymethyl-2-(beta -chloroallyl)-2-ethoxycarbony lbutanolides.
