Fluorimetry has been used to detect the luminescence in vivo of native orga
nic volatiles: emitted from the surface of various fruits. This luminescenc
e near the surface of fruits was visualized in the visible spectral region
as color photo-images using different excitations. While the origin of this
luminescence has not yet been confirmed, the results demonstrate that fluo
rimetry of natural aroma emission is a very promising method for studying b
iochemical environment of fruits that may be extended to other living syste
