Abstract
Diethyl 5-formyl-2-thienylmethylphosphonate is synthesized via the formylat ion of 2-thienylmethylphosphonate, and has been demonstrated to be an effic ient intermediate thienylvinylene elongation of electron-rich conjugate sys tems.
