Abstract
The compound 3-thiophenecarboxaldehyde (2) was prepared in multi-kilogram q uantities by a novel two-step process involving the condensation of acrolei n with 1,4-dithiane-2,5-diol, followed by sulfuryl chloride-mediated oxidat ion.
