Abstract
2-Hydroxy-3-allylacetophenones on Claisen condensation with EtOAc/Na gave i ntermediate diketone, followed by cyclization in AcOH/HCl gave 8-allyl/-1-p ropenylchromones. which on ozonolysis gave X-acetaldehydes or 8-carboxaldeh ydes. The above aldehydes on oxidation with KMnO4 furnished corresponding 8 -acetic acids and 8-carboxylic acids.
